First Glimpse of Africa

First Glimpse of Africa

Hello all! My sister and I made it to Cape Town. It's our second day here. We've mostly just done a lot of walking around the city, getting my phone unlocked and buying airtime, looking for good places to eat, and trying not to get lost. The city is huge! There's so much to do, but we've been tired after two looooooong flights (one 8-hour and one 12-hour). We got a 12-hour layover in London, so we got to see parliament and the london eye as well as find some things we want to do when we get back on our way back home.

Staying Awake!

Staying Awake!

Today we went to some beautiful city gardens. Also tried to get a tour of parliament, but failed miserably. Oh well. It's not like there's a shortage of things to do around here. Tomorrow we're probably going to take a cable car up to the top of Table Mountain, although they can close it at a moments notice depending on the wind. It's also very hot. We've both got the start of a sunburn, but it's nice to wear shorts and flip flops in February.

Hope everyone is well. Miss you all!

Packing

Well, this is a new blog, so here's to hoping the thing works.

Also, please excuse the lame title. Anyone who knows my writing knows most of my work goes untitled. It's my least favorite part of things. It will change later, I'm sure.

Tomorrow my sister and I are off to Cape Town, then London. The high in Cape town today is 86! London's 48 and rainy. This creates a packing dilemma, which is why I am typing this instead of gathering clothes together.

Also, I really like this blog, so I might move my study abroad entries over from my abandoned MySpace page if I finish packing early...
